Incoming Exchange Checklist

Welcome to your exciting journey as an incoming exchange student at the University of Utah! This checklist is designed to guide you through the essential steps for a smooth application and transition process.  Follow this checklist carefully, and don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance.

 

1. Confirm and Discuss Your Goals

Confirm that your home university has an exchange partnership with the University of Utah. Once confirmed, discuss your goals with your home exchange coordinator and determine if the University of Utah is a good fit for you.

 

2. Nomination

Your home university will nominate you to us. If selected, your exchange coordinator will email the Exchange Team at the U about available exchange spots. Then they will provide your name, email, term (fall/spring), major, nominating university and their contact info. 

Nomination deadlines:

  • Fall Semester: March 1
  • Spring Semester: August 15

 

3. Complete Application

Once nominated, you will scan and upload the following information to your University of Utah online application.

  • Scan of Official Transcripts
  • Color Passport Copy
  • Recent (2 years) English Langauge Proficiency Copy
  • Source and Proof of Finances of $9,448.00 US Dollars PER SEMESTER of stay (Amount  is subject to change for future terms)

In addition to uploading these materials, your application also includes questionnaires and signature documents. Please ensure that your application is complete before the application deadline. We cannot guarantee that late applicants will be accepted to the university. 

Application deadlines:

  • Fall Semester: April 1
  • Spring Semester: September 15

 

4. Prepare To Attend The U

Once accepted into the University of Utah, the Exchange Team will email/mail you the important information about completing the online housing application, registering for classes, arriving in Salt Lake City, etc.
