Advising

Guiding Students

Please guide students to the student section on our website.  We invite you to make a referral through Navigate U so that we can connect with a student that expresses interest in Learning Abroad.

Helping Students Find a Program

The best way to learn about available programs is through the Program Discovery on our website. Each program coordinated by our office includes information about costs, deadlines, coursework, and much more!

There are over 500 programs in the Program Discovery, so use the filters to narrow down your options—you can filter by location, term, program type, and field of study. We recommend starting with a broad search and then refining your query.

Things to Consider

As you are planning, students may have questions about:

  • Academic Goals
  • Graduation Plan
  • Transfer Credits
  • Internship & Research Opportunities
  • Financial Aid
  • Utah Residency

Be sure to check out our FAQ for answers to common questions. If you have additional questions please contact us at learningabroad@utah.edu.

What if a student wants to go on a program that is not approved by the U?

We encourage you to remind students of the many benefits of participating in a U-approved Learning Abroad program. They will have access to scholarships, ability to use financial aid, credit transfer support, direct health and safety support, vetted programs, ability to fulfill the International Requirement, and an active status at the U while on their program.

However, if students are interested in participating in a non-approved program, they should review details in the Student Handbook.
